Health Effects
Drinking water standards are established to protect
consumers from both adverse health effects (Primary drinking water standards)
and from qualities that make the water unpotable (Secondary drinking water standards).
Both New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and US EPA set drinking water standards.
Those in effect in New Jersey can be found at:
www.state.nj.us/dep/watersupply.
